Goblin Television Appearances

December 3, 2009 Media No Comments

goblin logo
This may be old news to some Goblin fans but it never occurred to some of us here to do a YouTube search on Goblin to see what kind of television appearances they made to promote the work they did for Argento and others. And what a treasure trove of retro television this clip is! Cheesy hair, goofy stage presentations (love the red boots, lads) and the Jimmy Page double neck guitar all prog bands were required by law to have in at least one stage of their career arc. Behold Goblin, doing VERY well on live (and pre-recorded) television in this excellent YouTube clip. Sadly the commentary at the end is in untranslated Italian, but 99% of this is music, so no bother.

We’re loving this vid and have already watched it three times…you’ll be an addict, too.

Russ Meyer Faster Pussycat! Kill! Kill! Picture Disc Vinyl LP

April 10, 2011

Russ Meyer’s Faster Pussycat! Kill! Kill! is a classic of the drive-in exploitation genre.  As the trailer says, “The sweetest kittens have the sharpest claws.” My favorite line from the movie, asked by a crotchety desert-dweller; “You girls a bunch of nudists or are you just…short of clothes?” How can you possibly go wrong with [...]

Game of Death Soundtrack LP by John Barry

April 8, 2011

The Game of Death soundtrack by John Barry is just plain awesome. John Barry is a Turntabling favorite thanks to a Morricone-esque sensibility when it comes to blending symphonic instruments with a more mod 60s/70s groove. Barry had a hand in some of the best-known soundtracks of the day, including Bond films, that goofy 70s [...]

The Grasshopper Original Soundtrack LP Jacqueline Bisset

April 8, 2011

There is something about those 60s and 70s movies with sex themes that some–Turntabling including–really love. The plot of The Grasshopper is pretty standard stuff, the progression of a liberated woman through sexually challenging scenarios and general life drama. But these movies always have a certain something (and plenty of enjoyable cheese to boot) that [...]

To Live and Die In LA Original Soundtrack Wang Chung

April 7, 2011

Say what you will about the rest of Wang Chung’s output in the 80s.  This soundtrack is top notch–a doomy-yet-pop-friendly piece of moody synth goodness that matches the nihilism of the movie.
To Live And Die In LA was a William Friedkin cops-gone-bad actionfest and while the years have not been kind to the film, it [...]
