Bizarre albums, prank phone call records, celebrity vanity records, so much more. Freakish children’s albums and religious nonsense.

Russ Meyer Soundtrack Vinyl

Sure, Russ Meyer films aren’t for EVERYONE…it takes a certain kind of movie lover to truly appreciate Meyer’s outrageous style. But for those of us who DO love this type of insanity, the soundtrack albums are practically indispensable–not only as artifacts and nostalgia for the drive-in era, but the packaging and presentation itself is pretty damn appealing.

The series of LPs this title belongs to feature gatefold sleeves, a booklet and a LOT of images from these films. Not-Safe-For-Work type images.

The LPs are sadly getting harder to find, but when you DO find them, grab ’em. If you aren’t sure whether this record is for you, have a look at the trailer below for Faster Pussycat! Kill! Kill! If you aren’t immediately grabbed by this, chances are good the record might…not…be…for you.

But if Tura Satana makes it for you, you need this album. That’s all I’m saying.

It’s true that not everything in the Russ Meyer catalog is as jaw-droppingly cool as Faster Pussycat!, Beyond the Valley of the Dolls, or his backwoods Nazi epic, UP! But the ones that work are 100% entertainment.

Meyer was a man who truly understood his audience–which back then included a large number of drive-in moviegoers. And once you get the idea that these movies were made with the idea that they might be viewed from the back seat of an old Rambler or something, it’s a lot easier to understand them in context…but let’s not get all psychobabble-a-rific here.

I sell Russ Meyer soundtracks whenever I can get my hands on them, and if you have any to sell, do get in touch. You can buy Russ Meyer’s Lorna, Vixen, Faster PussyCat! Kill! Kill! Original Motion Picture Soundtracks from Turntabling via the Discogs store. This LP is available first-come, first-served. Get it while you can!

And in the meantime, have a look at the awesome trailer for Faster Pussycat! Kill! Kill! It’s a stunner.

Vinyl Currently For Sale @Turntabling

Here is a little collection of rare and interesting vinyl I’ve got for sale currently–this is not the entire collection, but any means, but these are a sampling of the latest vinyl finds in stock. Please don’t hesitate to get in touch about any of these titles via e-mail (jwallace242@gmail.com) or you can always drop a comment in the comments section.

This post is a bit of an experiment as I’ve not really imported large amounts of info from the Turntabling shop page at Discogs. If you have any display issues or problems with the links, please leave me a comment or drop an e-mail. The “add to cart” links take you to my Discogs.com shop for the appropriate title.

As always, these titles are on sale as a fundraiser for Turntabling–your vinyl purchases keep the site going, so thank you VERY much for your continued support. Turntabling would NOT be here without you.

First New Sale Items Posted

It’s official, Turntabling is back in the record selling biz! I got things started tonight with a nice selection of import and hard-to-find soundtrack CDs, but the vinyl is DEFINITELY on its way.

Turntabling is selling on Discogs.com and soon our Etsy shop will be back up and running, too.

For those of you visiting for the first time, Turntabling is my small, scrappy indie vinyl preservation effort. I’m based in Chicago and I archive rare and weird vinyl, buy/sell/trade LPs and CDs and basically live the vinyl lifestyle. In the spring and summer I do Vinyl Road Rage, which is a cross-country vinyl buying and blogging spree. Last time out it was Chicago to San Antonio, Texas and prior to that I’ve gone from Chicago to NYC and out to many other far flung places.

If you have vinyl to sell or titles you’re looking to buy, do get in touch. You can reach me at jwallace@turntabling.net

Thanks for reading and I look forward to listing tons of rare, unusual, hard-to-find, and just plain amazing vinyl records. Stay tuned…I have thousands of titles, it just takes a bit of time to load em all in!

–Joe Wallace
