Pennsylvania Music Expo Record Show Sunday June 8 2014

Pennsylvania Music Expo record show

A quick look at www.recordcollectors.org reveals the following info on the Pennsylvania Music Expo, hosted by the Keystone Record Collectors–the next one is Sunday June 8, 2014.

The show “…is held at the: Continental Inn, 2285 Lincoln Highway East, Lancaster, PA 17602 on the second Sunday of every month except Mother’s Day and when Easter conflicts. When those events occur, the show is moved to the first Sunday. Show hours for the always FREE admission event are 9 am – 3 pm. Access prior is open to current, card carrying members only.”

That’s actually pretty amazing–a record show held every single month! Compare that to the ones found near Turntabling HQ in Chicago, where we get a variety of shows, but only once every few months or so for any single record collector’s show.

This looks pretty damn cool…but then again, I say that about EVERY record show, don’t I? No matter–anywhere you can buy vinyl is potentially a good trip. Could this be a Turntabling.net excursion? Stay tuned…

Lehigh Valley Music Expo Record, DVD & CD Collectors Show June 1 2014 Allentown PA

Allentown PA Record showsSo many record shows, so little time! This one looks promising–the Lehigh Valley Music Expo Record, DVD & CD collectors show in Allentown PA. I learned details about this one at http://www.surroundsoundproductions.com/ and I’m giving serious thought to hitting the road to check it out–depending on just how long the drive might be. It sounds completely crazy to just drop everything and drive eight or more hours to hit a record show, but that’s kinda how we roll here at Turntabling.net.

The Lehigh Valley Music Expo Record show is located at:

1901 S. 12th St. ( S.12th & Vultee Streets ) Allentown, PA 18103
10:00 AM-4:00 PM

And while I’m thinking of it, Allentown PA is home to the super-awesome Double Decker Records, which was a stop on Vinyl Road Rage one year on the way to New York City four years ago in 2010. Be warned though, according to the Double Decker website, they are only open Tuesday through Saturday, so you won’t be able to check out Double Decker if you just blow into town for the record show on Sunday. Too bad, but that’s how it goes in vinyltown, kids.

Chicagoland Record Collectors Show Sunday May 18 2014

Back CameraIt’s that time again–the Chicagoland Record Collectors Show is this Sunday, May 18, 2014 at the Best Western Hotel in Hillside, Illinois. (The address is 4400 Frontage Road Hillside, IL 60162).

I’ve attended this show for many years and have always found giant armloads of vinyl to bring home. I manage to spend at least $200 at every show, minimum so be prepared to NOT eat lunch after you’ve gone because all your available cash will have gone to what’s lurking in the record crate you should bring with you to this show–you’ll need it.

I myself prefer to pay the “early bird fine” (my words, not theirs) and get in early before everything is all picked over by the sweaty masses. It’s true–there are advantages to showing up early.

If you live in Chicagoland or are visiting from out of town, I recommend this show–do NOT miss it, vinyl junkies.
