Four Flies On Grey Velvet LP BACK IN STOCK

Four Flies on Grey Velvet soundtrack vinyl LP Morricone

BACK IN STOCK at Turntabling

Morricone really outdoes himself on this one. From the proggy jam on the opening titles, to the trippy, echo-laden sounds and creepy atmospheres later in the album, Four Flies On Grey Velvet is definitely a keeper of a record, no matter what you might think of the movie itself.

Some feel Four Flies on Grey Velvet is a weak entry by Argento, but the quirky characters and the fact that Morricone’s score threatens to become a character in the movie itself gives this one a special, left-of center place in the Turntabling 70s movie hall of fame. It’s become one of our favorites.

The movie is atmospheric, creepy, and has some really excellent, moody set pieces. We can’t say enough about Morricone’s music on this one–there’s a haunted quality about it that lends plenty to the film–in lesser hands, who knows?

The soundtrack is presented here in a beautiful gatefold sleeve and is pressed on glorious 180 gram vinyl. Buy the Four Flies On Grey Velvet OST vinyl LP for $29.00 plus shipping while supplies last. This is an imported, sealed vinyl album pressed in 2001 on Dagored.

Have a look at the trailer for Four Flies On Grey Velvet. We recommend watching this movie late at night in a darkened room. We tried it in the daytime, and it just doesn’t work the same way…

Profondo Rosso Soundtrack Vinyl LP Now Selling

December 23, 2009 For Sale No Comments

deep red profondo rosso goblin LPWe teased you with this earlier–accepting pre-orders for the Dagored 180 gram vinyl LP edition of the Profondo Rosso (Deep Red) soundtrack by Goblin. Wait no longer! We are now accepting orders for this fantastic soundtrack to one of Dario Argento’s best films. We have to warn you–this soundtrack is quickly vanishing from the market as people scoop it up. It won’t be long before it’s scarce again and our source for these says get them while you still can!

Dario Argento’s Profondo Rosso, also released in America as Deep Red, is one of our favorites. It’s loaded with prog sounds and if you’re addicted to them as we are, you will be pleased at the treasure trove of ‘em on this delicious slab of vinyl. The two most popular selling artists on Turntabling–both at the booth at horror conventions and on the website–are Ennio Morricone and Goblin.

Part of the reason–so it seems to us–is that there’s such a diverse range of sounds to explore in both cases that you never grow tired of listening. Goblin in particular goes all over the map from Prog to Italian disco sounds, and in spite of some missteps along the way, Goblin is one of the greats in the wide world of soundtracks.

We still have plenty of copies left over after the pre-order frenzy, so don’t be shy about ordering yours. This one ships within the USA only. The Profondo Rosso soundtrack by Goblin is a brand new, sealed vinyl record on sale at Turntabling for $28.00 plus shipping. International shipping is $13.

Profondo Rosso Soundtrack LP by Goblin PRE-ORDER NOW

December 21, 2009 For Sale No Comments

deep red profondo rosso goblin LP

We had the amazing soundtrack LP for Dario Argento’s Profondo Rosso in stock, it quickly sold out, but we’re expecting a nice consignment of this delicious 180 gram vinyl album once more, so we invite you to pre-order the album simply by sending us a message to orders@turntabling.net saying you’d like to reserve a copy.

We won’t bill you for the album until it has arrived and is shipped out to you. All that’s needed is your paypal e-mail address–we’ll send you a request for payment when the viny arrives.

Dario Argento’s Profondo Rosso, released in the USA as Deep Red (and sometimes Deep Red Hatchet Murders) is one Argento’s finest contributions to the genre. David Hemmings is fantastic as the musician looking for clues to a murder he witnesses outside an apartment. What he finds is…well, you have to see the movie. Suffice it to say any new fan of Italian horror should fall in love with this one, and old fans already know how well done the movie is in spite of a few flaws along the way…but that’s Italian cinema for you–take the good with the bad.

The soundtrack by Goblin is full of great prog flourishes and is totally unlike the band’s work on Suspiria or Tenebre…Goblin shows tremendous versatility between these three soundtracks, but of the three Deep Red is probably their most musically accomplished in terms of traditional arrangements.

This is a brand new, sealed vinyl LP on sale at Turntabling for $23 plus shipping. The album is available for PRE ORDERS ONLY and ships within the USA only at present. Send your pre-order with the subject line DEEP RED LP PRE-ORDER to orders@turntabling.net complete with your paypal email addy. As mentioned above, Turntabling will send a request for payment when the album is shipped.

Dario Argento and Goblin: Suspiria Soundtrack

July 1, 2009 Media No Comments

The soundtrack to Dario Argento’s Suspiria is still one of the loudest, creepiest and most effective scores used on a piece of celluloid to date.

Argento’s demented fairy tale/Grand Guignol horrorfest is still just as creepy and unsettling as it was when I first spotted it playing on a drive-in movie screen in the 1970s. I had no idea what it was–I was too young at the time to know what I was missing–but Suspiria later made the rounds on HB0 and Showtime where it made believers out of creeped out kids all over America.

Check out the Goblin soundtrack on this trailer for the restored version of Suspiria. Argento claims a collaboration with Goblin on this one, but I truly believe that the credit for this belongs squarely with the performers themselves–Goblin may have gotten some coaching from Argento in the studio, but listen to the realization of these sounds and marvel. Goblin has had some decidedly gawdawful results when they aren’t on their game, but here they hit all the marks with skill and a precision that predates later sonic attacks along the same lines by Skinny Puppy by many years. Bravo!

Suspiria Soundtrack

March 17, 2009 album, Media No Comments

suspiria-sountrack

It’s easy to understand why some people in the 90s thought that Skinny Puppy frontman Nivek Ogre was involved in the recording of this amazingly loud, creepy and ahead-of-its time soundtrack for Dario Argento’s Suspiria.

The fact of the matter is, this was Goblin and Dario Argento working together after a fashion–no 80s industrial names were attached to this project even if it DOES sound a lot like what Ogre would be doing in Skinny Puppy on tracks like Dig It, Testure, and others.

Suspiria is an amazing, demented fairy tale. The soundtrack, like the film itself, must be taken on its own terms…and what a soundtrack it is! Still sought after, some editions like the Cinevox import CD are surprisingly pricey–especially in the age of digital downloads. Still, the most obsessed of us are willing to shell out, especially if the LP is available. Believe it or not, you can score a re-issue of this for around $25 on vinyl from…are you ready? BEST BUY. It’s currently listed as backordered, but still available.

Check out the American drive-in movie trailer for Suspiria and ask yourself if you can really live without experiencing this at top volume.
