Morricone Il Serpente Soundtrack CD

Morricone Il Serpente soundtrack Dagored

Ennio Morricone’s soundtrack for Il Serpente is just plain awesome. Many sides of the Morricone canon are represented well here–the sentimental, sweeping motifs he’s known for on films like La Donna Invisible, but the thriller sounds–discordant strings and experimental clatter also get a good look in. And then there’s the classic Ennio Morricone Italian lounge-pop freakout sound complete with waka-waka-waka guitars and a hyperactive rhythm section.

Il Serpente is definitely worth a listen or six–it’s rapidly becoming a repeated player on the Turntabling sound system and is not as easy to find as you might think. We have limited copies–order yours today to avoid missing out on this classic slab of Morricone goodness.

Il Serpente is a sealed, imported compact disc released on Dagored. Buy it now from Turntabling for $21 plus shipping.

Perché quelle strane gocce di sangue sul corpo di Jennifer OST CD

perche quelle strane gocce di sangue sul corpo di jennifer soundtrack

Sold in America as Case of the Bloody Iris, Perché quelle strane gocce di sangue sul corpo di Jennifer? is a favorite giallo on the Turntabling DVD player. The soundtrack is excellent retro 60s lounge fun combined with Morricone-esque suspense cues. And with good reason, Bruno Nicolai was Morricone’s conductor and it’s easy to hear the maestro’s influence on Nicolai’s soundtrack work.

That’s not a bad thing in this case, either; Nicolai is great in his own right as evidenced on this import soundtrack CD. Yes, imports can be pricey but those who obsess over these sounds are definitely in for a treat with this disc. There’s a damn fine reason why I’m excited about this  addition to the Turntabling lineup–it was missing from the personal collection and getting it in here meant FINALLY getting to hear it after obsessing over this film for many years.

The film itself is awesome. Edwige Fenech has never been sexier, the plot twists are fun, and the quirky characters really make the movie what it is…it’s a more fun Four Flies On Grey Velvet in some ways, but looks far more retro-modern. Three cheers for Italian futurist decor! A twisty-turny giallo that features a free-love cult, a suspected serial killer who can’t stand the sight of blood, and a great pervy photographer who believes in the old adage, “sex sells”.

The soundtrack for Case of the Bloody Iris is a new, sealed imported compact disc from Italy. Buy it now from Turntabling for $29.00 plus shipping.

Turntabling at Flashback Weekend Friday and Saturday (Oct. 23-24 2009)

13 unusual tracks promo cd turntablingThat’s an iPhone photo of the CD we’ll be giving away tomorrow to some lucky attendees of Chicago’s annual Flashback Weekend, a longtime horror convention staple in the midwest. Turntabling doesn’t have a booth at this one–next year, perhaps after we’ve scoped it out this year–but we will be hangning out at the Kitley’s Krypt booth with a stack of these VERY limited-edition promo discs for Turntabling Records.

These will go very quickly if the performance of the last promo disc, Turntabling Presents 12 Spacey Favorites is any indication. We gave away 30 CDs in no time at all at the Music Box Massacre recently and we fully expect the new promo, Turntabling Presents 13 Unusual Tracks, to be just as popular. These are NOT for sale–they’re promos and therefore totally free. But they’re also a limited edition and when they’re gone, they’re gone for good.

13 Unusual Tracks features another grab bag of odd and rare sounds, including a never-before-on-CD Post-Mortem Telepathy Vs. Pink Floyd mashup, plus some brand new Paisley Babylon tracks unheard and unreleased until now…these won’t be on the promo release for the new vinyl record, either.

13 Unusual Tracks is packed with soundtrack/Morricone-esque sounds, plus some very trippy, spaced out material sure to lull you into a state of near-hallucination. Listen to this disc in the dark, if you’re one of the lucky ones to get it. For the rest of the world, stay tuned as a special promo collection (with different tracks, naturally) for YOU is coming very soon.

Join us this weekend at Flashback. It’s located at:

6810 N. Mannheim Road
Rosemont, Illinois
