Italian Soundtrack Vinyl Recently Added At Turntabling: Lots of Morricone

Italian Horror soundtracks SolangeEnnio Morricone’s soundtrack for What Have You Done to Solange is really superior. This film is a lurid Giallo-style shocker featuring nefarious goings-on in a school for girls and the classic Morricone soundtrack touches are all here. Don’t miss out on this one, there are limited quantities available!

Morricone soundtrack for Violent City

Morricone strikes again with the soundtrack to Violent City, starring Charles Bronson. This one isn’t as well known but if you like Morricone’s Italian crime soundtracks, you’re likely to need this one, too.

Stelvio Cipriani Tentacles Italian monster movie

Stelvio Cipriani gets a look in too-our latest inventory update includes a delicious pressing of the Tentacles soundtrack.

Stelvio Cipriani Tentacoli soundtrackAnd what record collection dedicated to horror sounds would be complete without the soundtrack to Lucio Fulci’s demented slasher film The New York Ripper? Francesco de Masi’s score for this one is a must-hear.

These are only a few of the recent updates-take a look at the Turntabling shop to see what other amazing vinyl has been added.

Sergio Martino’s Torso Trailer

Sergio Martino directs Suzy Kendall in Torso, released in 1973. It’s one of the sleazier giallo films from Italy, featuring a soundtrack by Guido and Maurizio de Angelis which you can buy for a limited time from Turntabling.

Any Italian film that features Suzy Kendall in peril is worth at least a look, and Torso does NOT disappoint. It co-stars Luc Merenda, the awesome Carla Brait who giallo fans will remember as “Mizar Harrington” from another high-quality giallo, Case of the Bloody Iris, starring the one and only Edwidge Fenech.

Turntabling is obsessed with the soundtracks to films like this-there’s something about those dissonant guitars, the lounge interludes, and the often VERY experimental approaches to music composition in general. Long before Throbbing Gristle showed up on the scene to make uncomfortable noise in a musical context, composers like the de Angelis brothers, Fabio Frizzi, Ennio Morricone, Riz Ortolani and many others were doing similar things for 60s, 70s, and 80s era Italian films and international productions.

If you find yourself gravitating towards these sounds, do take a moment to browse the Turntabling collection as you’ll find quite a bit of these sounds to obsess over.

Lots of New Stock Added

Turntabling did have some down time but we are back and raring to go, bringing you the most awesome rare, unique, weird, collectible, and amazing records. You didn’t know you needed the soundtrack to Fulci’s gorefest A Cat In The Brain but now that you DO, you know where to find it.

Interested in owning a very limited vinyl edition version of the Papaya, Love Goddess Of The Cannibals? Yes, Turntabling has this one, too.

Giallo Trailers: Death Will Have Your Eyes, Spasmo, Black Belly of the Tarantula

In case you haven’t noticed from all the giallo soundtracks Turntabling has for sale by Goblin, Morricone, Riz Ortolani, and many more, I am obsessed with giallo films, and Italian cinema in general. (Yes Eurocine is basically an obsession, but there’s something about those Italians…)

Here is a fun little helping of giallo trailers–watching these is a favorite Internet time waster at the very least, and can make for a fun evening of adult beverages and random finds on a good night. I’ve spent good money on soundtracks for these films on the strength of having heard the music in the trailer alone–believe it or not, you can do well looking for new soundtrack sounds to obsess over just by watching these! That’s especially true for Spasmo and Black Belly of the Tarantula (see below).

The trailer for Death Will Have Your Eyes looks maddeningly familiar, but I personally can’t remember ever having watched it.

Spasmo is hands down one of the best giallo trailers of all time, and the movie is pretty outstanding too. It’s one of my all-time favorites. The plot twists and turns so hard that when you finally get round to the end, it’s a relief that ANY of it makes sense.

The Black Belly of the Tarantula is also a standout film of the genre, one not to be missed–and that soundtrack! Definitely worth a look–the plot is outrageous, the music is not to be missed, giallo soundtrack vinyl fans…

Who Is Turntabling?

Joe Wallace Vinyl RecordsTurntabling has been expanding lately and going through some changes and now seems to be a great time to reintroduce myself and Turntabling.

My name is Joe Wallace, and for all intents and purposes, I am Turntabling. I run Turntabling from the 5th floor of the Bridgeport Art Center, where I also do vinyl-related art shows and special events. There is a large inventory of vinyl records there, and it’s getting larger all the time. I will have to hire people to help me run it all one of these days soon…but I’m dreading that as I like to personally take care of everything related to Turntabling.

I started collecting records at a very young age, but didn’t get serious about buying until 1997, when I started amassing a pile of bizarre regional and obscure New Wave records from Texas and elsewhere.

I got obsessed with collecting Goblin titles after purchasing two CD compilations of Goblin soundtrack music from an Austin record shop called 33 Degrees, which is now sadly long gone…Goblin led to collecting Ennio Morricone work from the 1960s through 1980s, and that led to buying Riz Ortolani soundtracks, which led to an interest in Bossa Nova and related sounds that could be heard in giallo movies, Italian horror films, sexy Euro cinema and other films from that era between 1960 and say, 1986.

Eurohorror figures largely into these things, too but some of those influential soundtracks are REALLY hard to find these days–IF they are even available at all. Try finding a vinyl copy of the OST for The Blood Spattered Bride or Jess Franco’s Venus In Furs and you’ll see what I mean.

Turntabling has an almost Japanese vinyl otaku focus to it in that I am very interested in soundtrack records in general, but especially Italian horror, giallo, and exploitation. I’m also into anything electronic, bizarre, naughty or experimental on vinyl. I try to sell things I want in my own collection, and I am always up for purchasing record collections or lots of albums that include New Wave, Goth, Industrial, Experimental, No Wave, etc.

So basically I am on the lookout for electronic, experimental, soundtracks, and unclassifiable/weird records. Since I buy AND sell, I am always happy to consider offers from people who want to sell their collection of records.

I scour the earth for vinyl records to list for sale in the Turntabling Discogs shop and to add to my own collection. When I am not selling vinyl records, I’m planning vinyl-related art shows as mentioned above, and other creative endeavors.

When you buy from Turntabling, you buy from me and support the vinyl projects I run from the 5th floor of the Bridgeport Art Center. You also support the annual cross-country record store blogging trip I do called Vinyl Road Rage. It takes of a LOT of gas and hotel money to blog about America’s most wonderful places–the record stores–and every album you buy from Turntabling supports that effort, too.

If you have questions, want to buy vinyl, or want to sell a record collection, please get in touch with me: orders@turntabling.net. If you’re interested in connecting with me on social media, please drop me a friend request at Facebook or connect with me on Instagram. I’m also on Twitter.

Thanks for your interest and keep on spinning those records!

New Vinyl Arrivals at Turntabling: Morricone, Joy Division, Goblin

There is a TON of great new vinyl for sale on the Turntabling Discogs page. Italian soundtrack fans will love the addition of My Delicious Spaghetti Western on the legendary Dagored label, and it’s been a great long while since I had a copy of Ennio Morricone’s La Donna Invisible to offer–it’s one of my favorite soundtracks from the era. I am always on the lookout for more excellent titles from Italy from the giallo, horror, sci-fi and thriller genres. You can never have too many Goblin albums, and Morricone’s work from the 60s and 70s never gets dull.

Turntabling sells vinyl from a variety of genres including soundtracks, goth/industrial, 80s new wave and punk, and just plain rare/obscure titles. I scour the earth to find these, and several times a year embark on cross-country trips to buy entire collections, find weird and outrageous vinyl, and meet my fellow vinyl junkies.

If you have a collection to sell, I’d be very happy to discuss it–but please know that I buy in the genres that I sell here. Country, show tunes, classic rock, and other genres unrelated to what I sell on Turntabling are of little interest. The ONLY exception to that rule is when weird or unsual albums are involved.

Here is a VERY SMALL selection of what I currently have for sale on Discogs. You can always send me an e-mail for a list of my latest arrivals–it’s an auto-responder that has my very latest items listed. Just send an email to: turntabling23@gmail.com. This list is updated whenever I get new arrivals–want the latest? Just send another email to that address and you’ll have the latest updated version.

Thanks very much for checking out Turntabling! Your interest is what keeps the site going year after year.
