She Had A Taste For Music: Italian Erotica Soundtrack Compilation CD

February 19, 2010 For Sale No Comments

she had a taste for music CD morricone armando trovajoli bruno nicolai nico fidencoThere are some nice Morricone-esque stylings on She Had A Taste For Music, but the Maestro himself does not appear on the compilation. No matter–the real star of this outstanding collection is Gianfranco Plenizio, who gets three songs here, all GREAT examples of what makes the Italian erotica genre so fun to listen to.

The Plenizio tracks “Grigio Perla”, “Musica Per Anna”, and “Voce d’ Amore” are the best on the comp, with Nico Fidenco coming in a close second with “Dutch Poppy” and “Make Love On The Wing”. Dagored scores again with another awesome soundtrack collection.

If you’re new to Italian erotica soundtracks, you can do no better than to get started with She Had A Taste For Music, and those with newish collections will be thrilled to get exposed to some new sounds beyond the Morricone/Bruno Nicolai/Piero Umilliani axis.

She Had a Taste For Music is a sealed import compact disc. Buy it now while supplies last for $22 plus shipping.

Easy Tempo from ESL

easy-tempo-esl-music1

Experienced lovers of Italian lounge, 60s and 70s Italian sountrack music and chillout sounds will appreciate the excellent track selection on this compilation from ESL. Newcomers, this collection of grooves is an OUTSTANDING primer. Have you heard the glorious sounds of Morricone and want to learn who else was creating lush, gorgeous textures in Italian cinema? Easy Tempo is the place to start.

There are plenty of legends on this disc, including Armando Trovajoli, Giancarlo Barigozzi, The Green Future, Piero Piccioni and the amazing Piero Umiliani. There is a great selection here, from loungey grooves to more suspenseful tracks from Italian thrillers. This disc is a good gateway drug to the hip, swinging world of Italian soundtracks, which are far cooler than most of their American counterparts in many cases.

It’s important to note that this CD is NOT part of the Italian-made Easy Tempo series distributed by Right Tempo, but it does contain a cross section of tracks licensed by ESL from that hard-to-find series.

Here’s the best bit–you can support Turntabling.net by purchasing a copy of this Easy Tempo disc from Turntabling. Use the PayPal button below to place your order and it will be sent out immediately. Cannibal Holocaust Soundtrack

January 8, 2009 Featured, album No Comments

cannibal-holocaust-soundtrack

Believe it or not, Amazon.com is a good place to pick up bizarre and obscure works–if you know where to look. The soundtrack to the infamous Cannibal Holocaust is a prime example. Unfortunately this is NOT a vinyl copy, but the CD edition for between $11 and $17 depending on which indie Amazon vendor is hawking it.

Sadly, the vinyl version of this is damn near impossible to find. I am still on the hunt for a copy–call it a holy grail of sorts. The movie itself will repulse you, but it’s also fascinating and hard not to watch. It succeeds as an actual work of grotesque art–Cannibal Holocaust manages to transcend its low-budget grindhouse intentions and make you forget that you’re watching a moive. Agree or disagree, for those who love the soundtrack music of Italian genre films, the music works as well as the film itself.

Piero Umilliani: “Lady Magnolia”

July 27, 2008 Media No Comments

Yesterday I mentioned picking up the soundtrack by Piero Umilliani pictured above, La Ragazza…Today, lo and behold, what do I find while idly searching around on YouTube? A collection of posts on Umillani, including this trippy vid accompanied by Umilliani’s Lady Magnolia as performed by Lavalamp. Very nice stuff indeed!

There is nothing more fun than being a left-of-center musical omnivore who can devour Kinks, Sex Pistols, Buggles, Hawaiian Pups and Morricone records with equal fervor. I remember being surrounded by people in college who were monochromatic, musically speaking. How sad for them!

One thing I love about vinyl records is the ability to discover new sounds at budget prices. I never would have picked up now-treasured recordings by the far-out Mystic Moods Orchestra or 4 Out of 5 Doctors if they hadn’t been in the bargain bins. Taking a chance on crazy bands and compilations like Pop Against Pope would be crazy at full price, at least in THIS economy…but I digress. Enjoy the vid, and as for Lavalamp, and I would certainly love to hear more of their work–right up my alley, this is…Lavalamp, get in touch!
