Paisley Babylon Dream Surgery Single

Dream Surgery by Paisley Babylon is a quite surreal experience. Nearly six minutes of electronic bliss recorded in Keflavik, Iceland in 1999 during a blizzard, this track was definitely influenced by the weather, the constant darkness in Iceland that time of year, and the lava fields stretching endlessly across the countryside.

Paisley Babylon specializes in electronic ambient journeys, experimental soundscapes, and more traditional sounds in the Morricone soundtrack vein. There’s also more than a hint of Stereolab and Coil influence here with a dash of Throbbing Gristle thrown in for good measure.

Dream Surgery has more structure than some of the other sounds on the album this was released on, Midnight Hallucinations, but there is definitely a trippy vibe going on here. This track is probably not right for road trips–it INDUCES highway hypnosis instead of driving it away. Never mind the surgery games, this track is all about the anesthetic.

This is the first post in a series of experiments to get projects like Paisley Babylon some wider exposure among people into sounds like these…Turntabling Records plans to offer these tracks as downloads direct from the site once our digital download interface is ready–we present this track via iTunes.

Download Dream Surgery in MP3 format via iTunes. Dream Surgery is a single track available for .99 cents. You can also explore the rest of the album, Midnight Hallucinations.

Paisley Babylon Midnight Hallucinations CD/MP3

Paisley Babylon Midnight HallucinationsIt’s Halloween season again, which can only mean one thing–Paisley Babylon is back to creep you out electronically with a collection of way-out synth sounds. Yes, Paisley Babylon is the ‘house band’ of Turntabling.net, a chronically unclassifiable synth project running since 1996. Some have compared PB to Dark Side of the Moon-era Pink Floyd, while others say it sounds a lot like a collision between John Carpenter and Goblin.

It’s tough to say who’s right, but one thing’s for sure, this CD/MP3 download is definitely the right soundtrack for your next Halloween shindigm, especially for when you want to turn out all the lights and get down with the adult recreational activities. Sex music for mutants? That was one person’s description of Midnight Hallucinations. You be the judge.

Introducing Turntabling Records

Turntabling.net has become Turntabling Records! We’ll still be doing the usual blog posts but when there’s news on Turntabling Records releases, we’ll post them here. Turntabling Records will release material on vinyl and .mp3 and perhaps even CD if it’s convenient…but the shiny disc seems to be an endangered species, so who knows? Vinyl is much tastier. We’re very pleased to be serving up unusual music under the Turntabling banner and planned releases include several compilations, the resurrection of the American military/punkĀ  sensation TOILET (formerly released on Zombie Records) and Opinion 8. Turntabling Records is a continuation of the now-defunct Zombie Records, which began in Texas in 1995.

We’re pleased to present our first release is Paisley Babylon’s Midnight Hallucinations, which you can buy on iTunes, CD Baby, Napster and elsewhere. Here are two sample tracks from Midnight Hallucinations for your listening, mashup and free distribution pleasure:

Paisley Babyon–Not a Hangover mp3 (may be freely distributed)

Paisley Babylon–Pavement and Broken Windscreen mp3 (may be freely distributed)
