WTF Album Covers: Doctor Fishbein Talks To A Growing Girl

Bad album covers Doctor Fishbein Talks To A Growing GirlI don’t know who Doctor Fishbein is, but I WANT THIS RECORD. As a collector of weirdness on vinyl, this seems like a no-brainer, must-own piece of vinyl insanity.

I wonder, what do these two talk about? No, I DON’T wonder, we know EXACTLY what they’re talking about.

Somebody PLEASE sell me this record. It begs to be sampled and mashed up into all manner of sinister-sounding electronic music with an air of evil and menace. Or maybe disco instead. Yeah, disco.

A Random Collection of Square Vinyl and Flexi Discs

…because square vinyl is so wrong that it’s right.

Limahl Square VinylKajagoogoo bootlegs from Russia? Who knew? (Via Kajafax)

Elaquent Square Vinyl PostcardThis is a flexi-disc on one side and a postcard on the other. Pretty great for a promo item…brilliant, but who would ruin it by writing on it?  (via SlyVinyl)

The Anomalys square recordNo idea whatsoever what this band sounds like, but red transluscent vinyl is gorgeous whether it’s flexi or not. (Via The Anomalys on Twitter)

Beatbox square vinylSynth and drum machine nerds need no explanations here. Square and awesome are only part of the equation. (Via Rusty Knuckles)

So many records, so little time…but not ALL square flexis are about the music.

Random Weirdness On Vinyl…Via David Letterman

If you found the Turntabling table at Flashback Weekend, or any other convention Turntabling sells at, you probably get the (correct) impression that Turntabling has a soft spot for weirdness on vinyl…and this clip from 90’s era David Letterman proves that weird has a broader appeal…at least when it comes to record collecting. The highlight of this clip has to be the album featuring recorded conversations with New York City cab drivers. Somebody actually PAID to have that pressed up…and now I want one.
