The mighty Antone’s Records in Austin, Texas does NOT disappoint. Don’t be fooled by the modest exterior in this Austin strip mall, or the (comparatively) smallish space this shop takes up. Much like Doctor Who’s Tardis, this store seems to expand from within as the stock gets larger. And what a collection of fantastic records Antone’s has! This unassuming (and friendly) shop has an excellent assortment of rarities and more common titles. Behold:

Need we say more? There’s an outstanding collection of jazz records here, and new wave/80s vinyl junkies will be in hog heaven. Antone’s Records has some really great stuff in the soundtrack section, too–we scored on several fronts including the way-out LP from the movie Mod F*ck Explosion. We simply cannot recommend Antone’s Records enough.

This is a solid shop for both collectors and newcomers to vinyl records alike–and the prices are also quite reasonable, especially when compared to Grand Prairie’s Forever Young. If you’re anywhere near Austin, Texas, do NOT miss Antone’s Records, who were playing a very nice selection of Cellar Door Sessions-era Miles Davis when we came in. Brilliant. Yes, Turntabling is in full fanboy mode here–this store is run by people who obviously love music.
