New Orleans Record Raid June 21st 2014 in Bywater

New Orleans Record Raid

Saturday June 21st from 9-5, the New Orleans Record Raid, for one day only. Billed as the largest record show in all of Louisiana, this sounds like a lot of fun, but be warned–the nearest ATM is a block and a half away, so come stocked with cash or you might just miss that awesome vinyl find…

This record show is put on by a non-profit, “to benefit recorded music culture in New Orleans, Louisiana and the Gulf South Region” according to the official site, which also adds, “For the most part, our shows are open-ended: we welcome all formats of recorded media from all vintages and musical styles, and try to keep the shows accessible for collectors and sellers. We have had over 50 vendors from all over the region, and it’s currently the only event of its kind in Louisiana.”

SOUTHWEST CHICAGO RECORD AND CD SHOW SATURDAY JUNE 7

vinyl record show and conventionThis Saturday in Countryside, Illinois, it’s the Southwest Chicgo Record and CD show, held at the Holiday Inn Countryside/LaGrange on Joliet Road in Countryside.

I have no experience with this record show, which runs from 10-4, but any record show is worth a look in at least once! If you’re in the area, you could spend Saturday scoring some deals on vinyl and adding another record show to the list…

Admission is $3 and I can’t find word on whether there’s an early bird fee or not but you never know…

Pennsylvania Music Expo Record Show Sunday June 8 2014

Pennsylvania Music Expo record show

A quick look at www.recordcollectors.org reveals the following info on the Pennsylvania Music Expo, hosted by the Keystone Record Collectors–the next one is Sunday June 8, 2014.

The show “…is held at the: Continental Inn, 2285 Lincoln Highway East, Lancaster, PA 17602 on the second Sunday of every month except Mother’s Day and when Easter conflicts. When those events occur, the show is moved to the first Sunday. Show hours for the always FREE admission event are 9 am – 3 pm. Access prior is open to current, card carrying members only.”

That’s actually pretty amazing–a record show held every single month! Compare that to the ones found near Turntabling HQ in Chicago, where we get a variety of shows, but only once every few months or so for any single record collector’s show.

This looks pretty damn cool…but then again, I say that about EVERY record show, don’t I? No matter–anywhere you can buy vinyl is potentially a good trip. Could this be a Turntabling.net excursion? Stay tuned…

Pittsburgh Record Fest XI

Pittsburgh Record Fest 11This sounds pretty damn cool. The fest costs nothing to vend at except the three dollar admission charge and it’s in a bar, which makes it even more fun-sounding. Pittsburgh Record Fest 11 should be a HELL of a good time and if I could get away to go to this thing I would make the eight hour drive from Chicago to be there…sadly it’s a matter of logistics and I don’t think I can squeeze it in.

But if you are in the area, this looks like a worthy event for any vinyl junkie. It’s this Saturday, May 24 starting at 7PM instead of the early Sunday mornings I am used to, which makes me want to go all the more…
