New Titles Coming Soon to Turntabling: Bruno Nicolai Collection

Case of the Bloody Iris Bruno Nicolai
I’m very excited to announce a limited collection of Bruno Nicolai titles for sale at Turntabling including the original soundtracks for Case of the Bloody Iris, also known as Perché quelle strane gocce di sangue sul corpo di Jennifer? That one was sold as part of the infamous Anchor Bay Giallo Collection boxed set several years ago.

We’ll also be stocking the Bruno Nicolai soundtrack for The Night Evelyn Came Out of the Grave, AKA La Notte che Evelyn Usci Dalla Tomba, and also the soundtrack Nicolai did for Nightmares Come At Night.

If that weren’t enough, we will also be bringing you another soundtrack from the Anchor Bay Giallo Collection, Ennio Morricone’s score for Short Night of Glass Dolls, one of the best giallos ever, for my money. Keep watching the site, you’ll see these awesome soundtrack CDs coming quite soon. Sadly they are NOT available on vinyl, but they are DEFINITELY worth the investment.

I even have another little surprise in store…an experiment that could lead to a whole new offering here. But only if there’s enough interest. Should Turntabling branch out and start selling DVDs along with the soundtracks? Stay tuned.

Sun Ra Space Is The Place Soundtrack Vinyl LP

Sun Ra Space Is the Place SoundtrackSun Ra is automatically of interest round here…but THIS takes the cake. This vinyl LP re-issue of Space Is The Place is the soundtrack to the film of the same name starring Sun Ra in all his controversial, afro-futurist glory. There’s little that can be said to prepare you for this film or the album. You’re either along for the ride or you’re left standing on the sidelines hopelessly trying to figure out WTF is going on.

From the opening cries about the end of the world, “Don’t you know that yet?!” to the free jazz freakouts that make Space Is The Place the mad, utterly unique sonic Jackson Pollock masterpiece that it is, you absolutely positively can NOT live without hearing this album OR seeing the film. In the words of the late, great Sun Ra, “Teleport the whole planet here…through music.”

This already sought-after vinyl LP edition of Space Is The Place is a glorious double album gatefold LP pressed on 180-gram vinyl. This will NOT be around long if rumors are any indication. Grab your copy of Space Is The Place while you can…this is one of the finest vinyl releases of 2010 so far.

Space Is The Place is a brand new, sealed double LP. Buy it now from Turntabling for $26.00 plus shipping.

Ennio Morricone: the 60s

Ennio Morricone
Ennio Morricone is the entire reason why there’s a Turntabling.net today. Goblin is great, Riz Ortolani is a favorite, I love vinyl records by Public Image Limited, Sun Ra, King Tubby, and much more…but Morricone was the man who drew me back into vinyl collecting, thanks to the Mondo Morricone series. That was a three LP set (also available on CD) that showcased some of the maestro’s most experimental, nostalgic and suspenseful soundtrack moments. It wasn’t long before record collecting was back on my radar.

I can’t tell you how pleased I was to successfully research Morricone’s output as a composer. I feel compelled to present lists of his work for my rabid fellow devotees of Ennio Morricone soundtrack music—especially the obscure, the unusual, the highly experimental work he did in the 60s and 70s. I make no pretense about this being a complete or definitive list–this is only the START of my digging…but I bring what I’ve found so far to you–a list of the maestro’s work as a composer from one of the golden eras of cinema–the 1960s.
