WTF Album Covers: The Last of 2010

We wrap up the 2010 WTF Album Cover collection with a cover so mind-rippingly ridiculous that I can’t actually think of anything to say that would be funnier than the cover itself. Behold:

It sounds like a bad joke, doesn’t it? A man named Quim takes off his clothes and puts out a record…yeah, this is a beauty. It’s NOT a Borat album cover, kids. This is a REAL RECORD some misguided oaf thought should hit the market looking JUST like this.

Upcoming Record Shows: The Chicagoland Record & CD Collectors Show, Hillside Illinois

Turntabling will be attending, not vending, at this regular Hillside, Illinois-based show Sunday January 18. The Chicagoland Record & CD Collectors Show (held at the Best Western Chicago Hillside located at 4400 Frontage Rd) is a worthwhile way to spend a Sunday.

This show was really my gateway drug to vinyl shows in general and there are some very good deals to be had. The people behind this one do a set of regional record collector events and while I’ve been to some of the competing shows, this one seems to do it the best. Don’t miss this one if you’re nearby, it’s Turntabling recommended!

And if you’re wondering, we do attend other shows, but if we don’t like them, we tend not to waste time writing about ’em. We save our output for the ones we truly enjoy!

WTF Album Covers in Christmas Hell

Christmas music is bad enough–how many times can we hear the Little Drummer Boy before somebody goes on a tri-state killing spree? But THESE holiday records go above and beyond when it comes to awfulness.

Worse than a Bing Crosby cardigan on David Bowie, these records deserve to go under the tree this Christmas…and into the fireplace.

This is the scene in the woods they cut out of Friday the 13th–Jason’s holiday setup. The “Organs” in the title refers to some halpless camper’s INTERNAL organs.

Can we pay this guy 50 grand to never record another record?Barring that,  I’ll cough up 25K just to pay somebody ELSE to design the next album cover.

Milwaukee Record and Music Show

It’s completely mad to schedule a record show for the very day after Christmas, but the madness works–this is supposed to be one of the most awesome record shows in the area–the Milwaukee Record and Music show, held at the American Serb Hall, 5101 West Oklahoma Avenue in Milwaukee on December 26 from 10-4PM.

Turntabling will be there–attending, not vending–if the weather is good to us. It just sounds too cool to pass up after having spoken to the organizer who says 600 vinyl junkies will be in and out those doors the day after Xmas. Who can blame them? This could be a whole lot of awesome. It’s about an hour and a half from Turntabling HQ so it’s very tough to say no….an early morning drive, to be sure, crammed with a load of caffeine and the Gary Numan blasting full volume all the way. Or Bossa Nova, whatever feels right at 7AM on a Sunday.

See you there?
