Eno Moebius Roedelius After The Heat 180 Gram Vinyl

I am not what you’d call an Eno completist, but I was quite pleased to find a vinyl copy of After The Heat, the collaboration between Eno, Roedelius and Moebius. This one’s from the late 70s and has plenty going for it, including an appearance by Holger Czukay from Can.  Ten cuts of Eno and Cluster playing the old studio games, very nice indeed. Some think this isn’t up to the Cluster and Eno challenge, but don’t let that stop you.

Sure, you could get this on CD, but on vinyl it’s a quite lovely artifact of its time on wax, no?

Introducing Turntabling Records

Turntabling.net has become Turntabling Records! We’ll still be doing the usual blog posts but when there’s news on Turntabling Records releases, we’ll post them here. Turntabling Records will release material on vinyl and .mp3 and perhaps even CD if it’s convenient…but the shiny disc seems to be an endangered species, so who knows? Vinyl is much tastier. We’re very pleased to be serving up unusual music under the Turntabling banner and planned releases include several compilations, the resurrection of the American military/punk  sensation TOILET (formerly released on Zombie Records) and Opinion 8. Turntabling Records is a continuation of the now-defunct Zombie Records, which began in Texas in 1995.

We’re pleased to present our first release is Paisley Babylon’s Midnight Hallucinations, which you can buy on iTunes, CD Baby, Napster and elsewhere. Here are two sample tracks from Midnight Hallucinations for your listening, mashup and free distribution pleasure:

Obama Vinyl? Not Quite

Just for laughs, I googled “Obama Viny Record” to see what would come up. Lo and behold, this goofy bit of President Obama kitsch, just in time for Inauguration Day. It’s sold at Zazzle.com and comes in a variety of styles from slacker grey long sleeves to fitted.

The reason this image is lumpy is because I used the “muscle tee” style image from the Zazzle site. I have seen plenty of other “album” style shirts before, but this has got to be the one with the most cheese. Kitsch is fun, so I can’t bash this TOO much, especially in light of the OTHER shirts I found while surfing around for Obama vinyl. Like the “Jews Against Obama” shirt. According to Gothamist.com this shirt costs a staggering $250 and was designed by a guy who doesn’t like Obama for a variety of personal and political reasons, including that Obama’s middle name is Hussein. I am sure you can draw your own conclusions here. In crayon, if need be.

In this photograph he appears to be the kind of person you find at record conventions who refuses to listen to The Damned because they were “too commercial” compared to the Sex Pistols. You know the type–the kind of dude who gets three beers in him and starts yammering away about how nobody understands his “genius”.

Yeah….riiiighhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhht.

New Order Live from Pumped Full of Drugs

Many a New Order concertgoer has come home from the experience feeling that when it comes to live performances, Barney and co. suck shit through a straw. The live Pumped Full of Drugs video is an exception. New Order was shot by a professional video crew during a tour in Japan back in their heyday circa 1985. The band is in a pissy mood, nobody seems to want to be there, and Barney wavers in and out of tune…but I’ll be damned if this doesn’t WORK. A great show from a group known for their wretched performances on stage….at least in my experience. If you disagree, feel free to check out this collection of live New Order DVDs for sale.
