WTF Bad Album Covers: Jerry Falwell Where Are The Dead?

I forget which punk rock album or ad campaign said it first, but I shall paraphrase here. Jerry Falwell is dead and it’s a damn good thing. But before he went, he inflicted this album cover on the unsuspecting public. No, this is NOT an ad sheet for the original Night of the Living Dead, but it would be very easy to mistake this horrid LP cover for such a thing.

Sorry zombie fans, but this is a Jerry Falwell album, and while Falwell is so blinded by religious fervor that he can’t see that the dead are right there in front of his pudgy little face, he wasn’t so giddy on Jesus that he forgot to include a handy explanation of the album for anyone (make that EVERYONE) confused by the album cover. That fine print on the left there explains, “A comprehensive message delivered by Dr. Jerry Falwell” with “beautiful special music” supplied by some other weenie. WTF is “beautiful special music”?

Probably the kind played with an extra dose of hate for those naughty unbelievers and people who laugh loudly at horrible album covers like this. Yeahhhhhh.

Are You Down With OPV?

OPV as in “Other People’s Vinyl”. Lots of people have posted vids of their vinyl collections on YouTube. So many that I’m starting to think that there’s a subset of people out there who actually want to see these clips. Collection envy? Looking for previously undiscovered titles? Or maybe folks are just looking for new or new-to-them ways of storing and preserving vinyl records. Regardless, I’m trying a little experiment with a series of posts called, you guessed it, Down With OPV.

Behold the very first entry courtesy of a YouTube account by VinylElvis.I’d love some feedback on the OPV series. If you like it, hate it, or feel left out because your vid isn’t featured here yet, please leave a comment and let me know what you think. I’d love to know more if you’ve got vinyl related videos on YouTube, Vimeo or elsewhere.

The Turntabling Posterous Site

Turntabling.net is now updating on Posterous.com, which is an app I’ve known about for some time but never tried anything with until now. I’m  still learning the ins and outs of this interesting service which lets you do blog posts and updates via e-mail.
It seems quite handy so far and I’m quite pleased with the ease of setup and the fact that it will convert seemingly any type of media including video and MP3s. You might see a hiccup or two in this space as I test the features out but all should settle back down to normal soon-ish.

Even More Vinyl Road Rage Random Images

Vinyl Road Rage posts have gone from Cleveland to Philly and we’re not done yet! I’ve got a lot of New York City record stores to get through and there are a few posts that haven’t gone up yet from Ohio and Pittsburgh yet to come. New York comes first though–I’ve been posting these in chronological order. In the meantime, here is another collection of Vinyl Road Rage images collected from the trip. There were 1500 photos in all! Not that you’ll see all those here, but I have picked some of the best….
