Morricone Dollars Trilogy CD Collection

Morricone Dollars TrilogyWhile it’s true that Morricone doesn’t seem to like the phrase “spaghetti western” these days and he–according to reports we read–likes to selectively remember some of the projects he was involved with back in the heyday of Italian cinema, this double disc CD set is priceless.

All three of the Dollars Trilogy soundtracks are collected here including the complete score for A Fistful of Dollars, For a Few Dollars More, and The Good, The Bad and The Ugly. From the opening strains of Il Buono, Il Brutto, e Il Cattivo to the big finish of Per Un Pugno Di Dollari, this is one soundtrack collection that’s a must-own for genre fans and Morricone lovers alike.

The spaghetti westerns are the gateway to a world of music that really does turn into an addiction. Morricone may not be happy answering yet another round of questions about his earliest works, but the fact that people are STILL fascinated by these sounds is very telling. Morricone created a new musical language starting with these early works…and they only get better over time.

The Ennio Morricone Complete Dollars Trilogy is a new, sealed double-disc CD set. Buy it now for Turntabling for $18 plus shipping.

Quentin Tarantino Death Proof Soundtrack LP SOLD OUT

Quentin Tarantino Death Proof vinyl album

Death Proof is a grab-bag of musical styles, all of them great. From Chick Habit by An April March to Jack Nitzche’s Last Race, (with a little Morricone thrown in for good measure), the soundtrack album for Quentin Tarantino’s Death Proof is a great time from start to finish. Hell, even Pino Donaggio gets a look in with Sally and Jack.

Regardess of whether you’re into the shorter Grindhouse version of Death Proof, or the extended feature-length release, if you’re a fan of the movie, you need to own this record on vinyl the way God intended it. Sure, you could just get the compact disc, or re-watch the flick (guilty of an excessive number of re-viewings on the Turntabling screen) but the vinyl experience for this particular slab of vinyl is outstanding. A true classic.

Yes, you’re reading the rant of a Death Proof fanboy–fully aware of the movie’s shortcomings and not caring one little bit. The album is fabulous and there’s no denying it.

UPDATE —SORRY, DEATH PROOF IS SOLD OUT! It is quite rare these days….

The Howling OST CD Pino Donaggio

The Howling Soundtrack Pino DonaggioIt’s true that we give Morricone, Piero Umiliani, Lalo Schifrin and other composers a lot of love here at Turntabling. It’s also true that Pino Donaggio hasn’t really gotten his due in these pages, something we hope to remedy with The Howling soundtrack. There are some definite Italo-sentimentale moments on this one, but also the requisite creepy strings and a few Goblin-esque moments (Donaggio would probably hate us for saying that, but we call ’em like we hear ’em.).

Fans of The Howling will love this soundtrack disc, available here in limited quantities. This is the La-La Land Records release of The Howling, in case you’re keeping track.

The Howling is a new, shrinkwrapped compact disc. Buy it now from Turntabling for $17.00 plus shipping.

the howling original soundtrack pino donaggioThe Howling definitely has one of the best movie posters from that era…and any poster that has John Carradine AND Slim Pickens listed in the credits is a must-own.

Deep Throat Soundtrack LP

Deep Throat soundtrack albumControversy, exploitation, and a soundtrack that won’t quit! Deep Throat was literally the hottest thing in America back in the 70s when it came out. In the age of Internet porn it is difficult to imagine why this particular movie was so groundbreaking, but imagine living in a world where the only people who see movies like this are part of the dirty raincoat set–a world of “perverts” unknown to the likes of “respectable” citizens.

Now picture one movie–Deep Throat–suddenly exploding into theaters all over the country. It’s the Star Wars of its genre, to be sure, and it gave ordinary people the permission to see sexually explicit movies without feeling like they have to hide their faces.

This 2004 reissue of the soundtrack is awesome. Whether you’re into Deep Throat or not, the album is definitely worth a listen for the retro-groove vibes we at Turntabling know and love. This particular copy for sale here is a one-off. We only have one copy at press time–one that comes with a poster for the film as an added bonus.

The Deep Throat Soundtrack LP is a 180 gram vinyl record in a gatefold sleeve and comes with a Deep Throat movie poster. Buy it now from Turntabling for $18 plus shipping. Overseas shipping extra.
