Join Turntabling This Saturday at Holiday Of Horrors Film Fest

horror society holiday of horrors

This Saturday, December 12, join Turntabling at the Horror Society’s Holiday of Horrors fest. We’ll be there with the usual Turntabling booth, but this time with something new in addition to the classic horror movie soundtracks, vinyl and other sundries we carry around. Turntabling is now proud to carry t-shirts by Stranger Tees and we’ll be debuting several new designs at the show.

Stranger Tees specializes in shirts aimed at lovers of all things zombiefied, but also has some vinyl junkie designs in the works. Stranger Tees is also hard at work on a t-shirt especially for Turntabling.net, so stay tuned–soon we’ll be selling those here for your enjoyment.

The Holiday of Horrors film festival is another excellent and fun movie marathon put on by Chicago’s might Horror Society. Doors open Saturday at 5PM, movies start at 7PM. There are loads of great vendor booths including ours (naturally) but also the most excellent and UNMISSABLE Kitley’s Krypt table. Jon Kitley has a stunning collection of movie posters, reference books on horror movies and other scary sundries. Continue reading Join Turntabling This Saturday at Holiday Of Horrors Film Fest

WTF: Riot Narita Album Cover

Riot bad album cover art Narita LPBeing the curator of a bad album cover collection has its downsides. There are the endless rejects–album covers that simply aren’t rotten ENOUGH to include in a gallery of truly craptacular designs.

You have to wade through a lot of mediocrity to find real gems of awfulness. But when you do finally spot a brain shatteringly bad album cover, there’s a part of your soul that leaps for joy. And there was some handsprings going on today with the discovery of Riot’s Narita LP, truly one of the most deliciously shitty things we’ve found in a long time.

Beavis and Butthead once made fun of a Edie Brickell video, Butthead muttering,  “She’s pinching a loaf!” as Brickell crouched on the ground to sing. That’s exactly what echoes through the mind when gazing upon this miserable pimento loaf of an album cover. It looks like this mutant wrestler/mammal thing is crapping out skeletons as its being buzzed by an 80s era cargo plane. Continue reading WTF: Riot Narita Album Cover

Goblin Television Appearances

goblin logo
This may be old news to some Goblin fans but it never occurred to some of us here to do a YouTube search on Goblin to see what kind of television appearances they made to promote the work they did for Argento and others. And what a treasure trove of retro television this clip is! Cheesy hair, goofy stage presentations (love the red boots, lads) and the Jimmy Page double neck guitar all prog bands were required by law to have in at least one stage of their career arc. Goblin Collection Volume I 1975-1989: Now Selling Here

Goblin Collection Volume I

Our most popular title! The Goblin Collection Volume One is a fantastic cross-section of Goblin soundtrack sounds, from Profondo Rosso to Dawn of the Dead and Buio Omega. If you’re a new Goblin fan this is a GREAT way to sample their diverse soundtrack sounds. Our favorites are the Dawn of the Dead tracks (naturally) and also the Buio Omega cuts. Contamination is also fun but we also can’t get enough of the cheesy 70s vibe of the Via Della Droga cuts.

Every time we show up at a horror movie convention or film festival with these on the table, they sell out. Now they’re available here–you don’t have to wait for the next HorrorHound  Weekend or Chicago Horror Society event to pick one up from us. And to all who have purchased one of these already, thanks for your support–we greatly appreciate it.

We’re trying an experiment with this most excellent Goblin Greatest Hits CD (Volume One 1975-1989). We’ve set up a Turntabling Amazon storefront to process our orders and are trying it on for size with a range of products. Everything still ships directly from Turntabling HQ here in Chicago, but when you click to buy the Goblin CD your order is processed via Amazon. Please let us know if you experience any issues or difficulties with this system.

Buy the Goblin Collection Volume I 1975-1989. This is a brand-new shrinkwrapped CD which ships directly from Turntabling.
