Harold and Maude Original Soundtrack on Vinyl

Aquarium Drunkard is raving about this. While Cat Stevens is more odious because of his “Kill Rushdie” utterances as an Islamic militant back in the late 80s (Is he still one? Who knows?) the vinyl in question is highly prized in some circles. Aquarium Drunkard reports the Cameron Crowe is responsible for this finally seeing the light of day…if you loved the movie, this might be worth a look in. It’s a limited edition–2500 copies according to the blog post. Collectors take note!

We found a listing for the Harold and Maude soundtrack LP on Amazon for a whopping $299…claiming to be an original, factory sealed pressing on blue vinyl. Buyer…beware? We don’t vouch for the veracity of this–but it IS available for sale. One copy only!

Long Live the Record Shop

Got an e-mail forward today with a massive list of retailers that are scaling back, closing stores or filing bankruptcy. Not a SINGLE musical instruments vendor, record shop or downloadable media enterprise was on the list.

That’s not entirely scientific, I know, especially since Virgin and Tower got their collective asses kicked already. But I predict that in an age of massive economic trouble, people will still cling to the music–maybe more than ever.

In short, VIVA LA VINYL!

I just dropped some nice coin on German disco cheese, and a glorious Brazilian post-punk album. More on that stuff later. Looks like Turntabling.net is back up, eh?

Don’t worry, we’re still kicking. Just working out some business and trying to get some concepts working properly. Turntabling is still all about the vinyl, but I am contemplating the MP3 posts as well…updates forthcoming. It’s been well over a month since anything hit this space but Turntabling is reviving.
