Hey kids, look at our new, less cluttery layout! To celebrate, here’s a truly wretched album cover that evokes both feelings of WTF and RUN AWAY. Clown imagery, however displayed, is truly the kiss of death on any record cover. Even when ( or especially when?) said clowns are jammed onto a naked, willing model.
On Friday April 13th starting at 6PM I’ll be DJing the OhNo!Doom Gallery opening, A Walk Through The Dark. My four-hour set features live mashups, audio collage, vinyl manipulation and much more. A lot of people have a hard time getting motivated to come out for events like this, but if you’re a fan of Goblin, Morricone, Bruno Nicolai, Jesse Franco and Jean Rollin soundtracks, experimental audio and more you owe it to yourself to make it to this. It’s located at 1800 N. Milwaukee Avenue in Chicago, and starts at 6PM on Friday April 13.
Here’s a little sampler of the sort of thing I’ll be doing at Friday’s OhNo!Doom art opening–forty minutes of rare vinyl-only mashups and mixes (including the opening track which is part of a new Paisley Babylon studio project) featuring Roddy McDowall reading H.P. Lovecraft, a variety of Goblin tracks from Tenebre, Dawn of the Dead, Deep Red and others mashed up with Morricone sounds from Four Flies on Grey Velvet, plus a variety of other rarities including the Rhythm Devils doing Apocalypse Now drumming and sounds from assorted horror sound efx samplers and more.

OhNo!Doom Gallery in Chicago hosts A Walk Through The Dark, an opening featuring artwork of the macabre, strange and bizarre. It also features Turntabling.net–I’ll be creating the sinister ambience and playing appropriately creepy music by Morricone, Goblin, Riz Ortolani, Bruno Nicolai, Coil, Nurse With Wound, Skinny Puppy and various other sounds. Two gents who looooove vinyl show off their staggeringly huge LPs and 12 inches. You cannot help but be impressed by Da Beatminerz who have amassed a FORTUNE in records. Jaw-dropping!
Seriously, people, what’s up with the matching outfits? If you stare at these facial expressions long enough, you might be able to detect a note of “HELP ME” in their eyes. Were these people HOSTAGES?
The word “Polka” on the title should be enough to send any sensible person screaming down the street begging for a bullet to offer merciful release from the utter terror and sonic torture that is an entire LP full of the damn things. But somehow enough polka records sold to justify producing even more. Can someone PLEASE explain what it is about the polka that makes people sit down and listen to records like this without any threat of punishment whatsoever?
And speaking of punishment…
“Um, heh heh, huh huh, yeah. It’s like, you know, METAL. And it’s like, huh huh, a WOLF. Heh heh, huh huh. Heh. Yeah. Uh-huh. Metal. Heh. Wolf. The only thing that would make this album cover any COOLER is if there were some TURDS on it. Heh heh, huh huh. Cuz that would RULE.”
It totally defies description or explanation. Suitable for framing, pondering, and head-scratching. WTF does this sound like? Who cares? It demands to be purchased on the strength of its weirdness alone:
