Bruno Nicolai and Jess Franco? Yes indeed! De Sade was seemingly a favorite topic of Franco’s, he kept coming back to the famous old pervert again and again, if not directly, certainly in the concepts and themes of those naughty old stories. Bondage, S&M, blood, you name it…Franco and De Sade go together like coffee and cream.

The soundtrack for this film is just what you’d expect from Nicolai, who composed and conducted with Morricone, which is likely why you hear some textures and techniques in common with good ol’ Ennio’s work.

Turntabling has a copy for sale of this delicious vinyl pairing of two Maestros working together back in 1969…this is the Finders Keepers edition with the purple cover. If you love the sexy sounds of Jess Franco movies and have a thing for classic Italian soundtrack composers like Bruno Nicolai, have a listen to this record…(sample below) and you’ll wonder why you haven’t added this to your collection yet.

Bad album covers Doctor Fishbein Talks To A Growing GirlI don’t know who Doctor Fishbein is, but I WANT THIS RECORD. As a collector of weirdness on vinyl, this seems like a no-brainer, must-own piece of vinyl insanity.

I wonder, what do these two talk about? No, I DON’T wonder, we know EXACTLY what they’re talking about.

Somebody PLEASE sell me this record. It begs to be sampled and mashed up into all manner of sinister-sounding electronic music with an air of evil and menace. Or maybe disco instead. Yeah, disco.

SOUTHWEST CHICAGO RECORD AND CD SHOW SATURDAY JUNE 7

vinyl record show and conventionThis Saturday in Countryside, Illinois, it’s the Southwest Chicgo Record and CD show, held at the Holiday Inn Countryside/LaGrange on Joliet Road in Countryside.

I have no experience with this record show, which runs from 10-4, but any record show is worth a look in at least once! If you’re in the area, you could spend Saturday scoring some deals on vinyl and adding another record show to the list…

Admission is $3 and I can’t find word on whether there’s an early bird fee or not but you never know…

I buy record collectionsI am very interested in people who want to sell their record collections. I am looking for large and small quantities of odd, unusual, and just plain awesome records in good condition.

I have purchased collections in the past that consist of soundtracks, goth and industrial, 80s new wave, spoken word, punk and post-punk, psychedelia, and that strange creature from the 80s and 90s and beyond known as Christian Indie music, CCM, etc.

I also am interested in purchasing “stag” and “adults-only” vinyl records as I’m assembling a large collection of them for an art show I plan on for Fall 2014. This could include anything on Laff Records or any of the other low-to-no-budget record labels pressing those titles and the ones that used to be for sale under the counter at truck stops and other places.

There are also a large number of genres I have no interest in–I am not purchasing Broadway shows, musicals, or the soundtracks to musical films. I’m not interested in Jazz collections, Classic Rock, etc.
