Random Weirdness On Vinyl…Via David Letterman

If you found the Turntabling table at Flashback Weekend, or any other convention Turntabling sells at, you probably get the (correct) impression that Turntabling has a soft spot for weirdness on vinyl…and this clip from 90’s era David Letterman proves that weird has a broader appeal…at least when it comes to record collecting. The highlight of this clip has to be the album featuring recorded conversations with New York City cab drivers. Somebody actually PAID to have that pressed up…and now I want one.

Back From Flashback Weekend

Big thanks to all who came out to the Turntabling Table this weekend and chatted, bought rare and unusual vinyl, and talked about all things record-related. Turntabling is plotting more convention appearances even as I write this. Everyone who came to the table really made the weekend special–THANK YOU for your support.

I wanted to take a moment to remind people that I am currently in search of more record collections to purchase. Any kind of bulk vinyl for sale is potentially of interest as I have a continuous need for more titles–especially 80s goth/industrial, soundtracks, new wave, odd/bizarre and otherwise unclassifiable records. Feel free to get in touch about any vinyl you might be interested in selling: jwallace@turntabling (dot) net.

Thanks again for your continued support!

Vinyl Events Aug 12-14

There is a LOT of great stuff in the Chicago area this weekend for vinyl junkies. For starters, on August 13 and 14, the Vintage Vinyl Record Show is at Lake County Fairgrouds, 1060 E. Peterson Road in Grayslake, Illinois. That’s the show you’ve been seeing advertised here…it’s gotten attention elsewhere and if it weren’t for Flashback Weekend I’d be there exploring it myself.

And yes, that brings me to Flashback Weekend, where Turntabling will be set up and selling the rare vinyl at this horror convention located at Crowne Plaza Chicago O’Hare. 5440 N. River Road, Rosemont, Illinois.

There is also the Willowbrook Music Fest on the 13th, at Holiday Inn Willowbrook 7800 Kingery Hwy, another show I have yet to check out but looking forward to hitting next time…anyone been to this one?

As for Flashback weekend, I hope to see you there–drop by the Turntabling booth and say hello! Also, I would LOVE to get a show report from anyone who attends the Vintage Vinyl show in Grayslake or the Willowbrook fest–pictures, a write-up, anything at all would be most welcome!
