WTF Album Covers: Hello Lovers Roger Nusic Here For You Only

Knowing absolutely nothing about this record other than this wacko-jacko album cover, the first thing that springs to mind when I look at the image is, “I remember THAT SCENE in Cannibal Holocaust…” The liner notes for this Roger Nusic album on CD Baby helpfully mention the contribution of a drummer named Sticky Dave Friendly. With a name like that, can a career in porn be very far away?

Unfortunately for Roger Nusic, the album covers only get creepier from here. Feast your eyes on THIS:

I weep for the future.

Can Mother Sky

The image above is the Japanese import of a remastered version of the Can classic album Soundtracks. This one has the absolutely amazing Mother Sky. The live version on the video below is fun, but it can’t really capture how excellent it is on the record. Hypnotic, psychedelic and a huge influence on other groups who would come after. And in case you are a newcomer, it’s amusing to note that that band The Mooney Suzuki is a direct reference/homage to members of Can. You could do a lot worse as an introduction to Krautrock…Behold.

Eno Moebius Roedelius After The Heat 180 Gram Vinyl

I am not what you’d call an Eno completist, but I was quite pleased to find a vinyl copy of After The Heat, the collaboration between Eno, Roedelius and Moebius. This one’s from the late 70s and has plenty going for it, including an appearance by Holger Czukay from Can.  Ten cuts of Eno and Cluster playing the old studio games, very nice indeed. Some think this isn’t up to the Cluster and Eno challenge, but don’t let that stop you.

Sure, you could get this on CD, but on vinyl it’s a quite lovely artifact of its time on wax, no?
